When People ask why you are supporting the American Cancer Society remember these facts: It was American Cancer Society research which: Found the use of aspirin could reduce the risk of colon cancer death to one-half. Led the Pap smear crusade through funding and supporting Dr. George Papanicolaou, the creator of the Pap test (to screen for cervical cancer). Proved mammography an effective screening for breast cancer. Supported the researchers who discovered the Prostate Specific Antigen(PSA) test for prostate cancer screening. Supported the development of small molecule inhibitors such as Gleevec for treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia.
